Date:  10-14-2014

Communities selected will receive technical support
For those who did not sign up with Reclaiming Futures to receive the organization’s RFP when it became available, Reentry Central is pleased to share the following announcement sent out on October 13, 2014.

Request for Proposals for New Sites to Implement Reclaiming Futures and Pilot SBIRT

Would you like to bring Reclaiming Futures to your community? A recent grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation will fund two new Reclaiming Futures sites, and you can download the request for proposals below. The two communities selected will implement the Reclaiming Futures model and join our national learning collaborative that shares resources, improves data, and promotes new standards of practice. As part of the implementation, these two new sites will also take part in an innovative national pilot of SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment).

The Reclaiming Futures model combines system reforms, treatment improvement and community engagement to help young people break the cycle of drugs, alcohol and crime. Key elements of the Reclaiming Futures model include:

  • Establishing substance abuse and mental health screening and assessment for juvenile courts;

  • Developing individualized care plans;

  • Training substance abuse and mental health treatment providers in evidence-based interventions;

  • Involving community as mentors and role models to provide the positive support teens need.

    The Reclaiming Futures national program office will provide significant technical assistance to these communities. Each community selected for the national learning collaborative will benefit from funding for a project director and SBIRT coordinator staff, an online toolkit, individualized coaching, and participation in our SBIRT pilot and our national learning collaborative. If your community is interested in an opportunity to launch a new Reclaiming Futures site for your justice involved youth, and pilot SBIRT with your at-risk population, apply by November 13.”
