Under pressure from the Obama White House, federal prison officials began an opioid addiction treatment for prisoners using Vivitrol. Three years later, the Bureau of Prisons has little to show for this effort, but heavy marketing is helping Vivitrol gain traction in jails and state prisons, despite questions over its effectiveness and whether drug users should be locked up in the first place.
