Tennessee has endured numerous hardships in recent weeks.
Nearly 300 Tennesseans have lost their lives to COVID-19, our doctors and nurses have been working around the clock to care for those who need their help during this pandemic.
While many of the measures taken to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 were necessary to protect the lives of Tennesseans, they also unfortunately came with an economic cost that will be felt in the years to come. Now, we are projected to face a budgetary shortfall of up to $1 billion in the next year, and many businesses will be hurting for a long time.
As the legislature reconvenes to finish its business, I strongly believe that they should be prioritizing bills that will improve the health and safety of Tennesseans, as well as those that will bring about cost savings to the state. t’s imperative that the legislature move a key criminal justice reform bill that does both of those things: House Bill 2517/Senate Bill 2734.
