Responders to an EmployeeScreenIQ survey provide hope that a past conviction may not be a barrier to employment
For those with a criminal conviction, the mere thought of a background check by a potential employer often produces high anxiety. There is a real fear among job applicants with a criminal history that no matter how qualified, they will most likely be rejected by an employer because of past involvement in the criminal justice system. There is evidence to support that attitude. The report’s findings may be surprising for some, including the revelation by survey responders that having a criminal record would not automatically disqualify a candidate for a position, even if the candidate “distorted” information on his or her job application.
