San Diego DA Works with Others to Help Formerly Incarcerated Persons Find Resources

Helping newly released inmates quickly obtain needed services can reduce recidivism
Being released from prison or jail is an exciting moment, but also a frightening one. Most inmates leave jail with no money, job, and sometimes, without a place to live. A majority of prisoners have had past addictions and/or mental health issues. Finding help for post-release issues needs to happen quickly.

Aware that the first 72 hours of reentry are the most important for making wise choices, the San Diego County District Attorney's office, San Diego County Sheriff's Department, San Diego County Probation Department, San Diego Re-entry Roundtable and 2-1-1 San Diego teamed up to create the Post-Incarceration Re-Entry Resources website for inmates returning to their community , and their families.
