Investigation called for in what officials claim was a suicide by hunger striker
Solitary Watch reports that a California prisoner who was on hunger strike in the Security Housing Unit of Cocoran State Prison was found dead on July 22.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) has called the death of Billy (Guero) Sell a suicide, but several prison-rights advocates are calling for a thorough investigation claiming there are reports that Sell was asking for medical treatment before his untimely death. Mediators have been working with prisoners and the CDCR to find a solution to end the hunger strike.
